The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has segregated rifle elk hunting seasons, so we are able to offer our clients three different types of rifle elk hunts; antlerless elk hunts, bull only elk hunts, and any elk hunts. All three hunts are controlled through the Oregon State draw system unless a Guaranteed Guide/Outfitter tag or LOP tag is purchased, and all three hunts have separate seasons.

Bull Elk
2 5 x 5 Bulls loaded & ready to go 4 hours into opeing day 2001 The bull only elk hunts generally start on the fourth Wednesday in October and runs thru to the following Sunday, a five day hunt. This is a very exciting hunt, in most years the elk have not yet begun their migration to lower elevations for their wintering grounds. This enables hunters to see more elk, which means more opportunities for success. Although this hunt is filled with excitement it can be very rigorous and demanding on both guide and client. However many fine animals are taken during this hunt, as can be seen in our brochure. In fact we have clients that return each year for just this hunt.

Anterless Elk
Our antlerless elk hunt generally starts at the beginning of August and runs through the end of March. We encourage our clients to book these hunts early in the season as the animals are in prime condition, less stressed from hunting pressure, and for the successful hunter these animals make excellent table fare.

Any Elk
Our any elk hunts generally start the first Saturday in November and run thru to the second Sunday, a total of nine days. We normally run a five day hunt during this time and occasionally will run a four day hunt if we have hunters interested (call for pricing on four day hunts). This too is very exciting hunt and can even be more  rigorous and demanding. Weather conditions can change rapidly in the Blue Mountains in November and can be a key factor on the hunts. Our 2000 hunts were made during very cold and snowy conditions. However for the willing hunter this hunt can offer many opportunities for success for either bulls or cows
