The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) introduced a Non-resident or Guide
tag a few years ago. This has enabled Oregon outfitters to guarantee
tags for their out-of-state clients. These tags are issued through a draw process
to each outfitter and are only sold to Non-residents wishing to experience a
guided elk or deer rifle hunt. The tags drawn by the outfitter must be purchased be a Non-resident
no later than March 15tht of a given year, therefore it is important to book your
hunts as soon as possible.
Guides and Outfitter Tags
"As enacted by the 1997 Oregon State Legislature, the Guides and Outfitters Program provides guides and outfitters
with the opportunity to market nonresident tags. A number of tags equal to one
half the nonresident tags drawn in the previous year are available through this program. The tag fee for a
Guide/Outfitter tag is twice the ordinary nonresident fee. Guides certified by the
Oregon State Marine Board submitted applications and competed for the right to market these tags. Tags not sold by
April 15, 2006 are available in the 2006 big game drawing."...excerpt
